New issue 21365 by pphaneuf: location of window at restart is overridden
slightly incorrectly
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=21365

Chrome Version : 4.0.206.0-r25285
OS + version : Ubuntu Hardy
CPU architecture (32-bit / 64-bit): 64-bit
window manager : GNOME default
URLs (if applicable) :
Behavior in Firefox 3.x (if applicable): see details below
Behavior in Chrome for Windows (optional):

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. put a Chrome window in a particular location (look at it with xwininfo)
2. exit Chrome
3. restart Chrome

What is the expected result?
The window should either appear in the exact same location, or in a
location dictated by the window manager.

What happens instead?
The window appears slightly shifted (5 pixels toward the right, 24 toward
the bottom), no matter where it was before.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot
and backtrace if possible.

Here is the "-geometry" line from xwininfo, stopping and restarting Chrome
in between:

1316x983+352+258
1316x983+357+282
1316x983+362+306

Here is the same kind of test done with Firefox when the window is floating
at some random location in the middle of the desktop:

1233x1004+190+97
1233x1004+36+197
1233x1004+36+197

The virtual desktop where I normally have my browser window is tiled in a
way where the whole desktop is covered, so when I restart Firefox, it goes
back to its exact location, since the window manager tries to do
"intelligent placement" and finds no other place for it. When I restart
Chrome, the window manager placement seems to be overriden, which would be
fine *if* it was indeed placed in the same location.

For my usage pattern, the placement should either be corrected to be in the
same place, or be left to the window manager, but this intermediate state
of things is somewhat annoying.

Thanks!
