The plot thickens a little bit. If I remove
/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist,
the problem goes away. When I move it back there, the problem happens
again. The
problematic plist file is attached, converted to xml1 format (using plutil.
The problem
still happens if I move the attached file to /L/P/.GP.plist, so no
(important) information
was lost during this conversion).
