You can also right-click on the buttons to display the history.
Right-clicking on
things to get context menus seems pretty standard. Did you mean that you
expected a
down-arrow, similar to what the page and tool buttons at the right of the
toolbar
have? Firefox 3 looks like it has a single down-arrow to the right of the
forward
button, but its menu (also accessible by right-clicking back or forward)
contains the
pages both behind and ahead the current page in the history, and seems
difficult to
use, at least to me.
(The new tab page already has a link to view the full history; I think that
adding
documentation about the toolbar to it is unlikely to happen.)
