Comment #11 on issue 19474 by [email protected]: When behind NTLM firewall
with multiple load balanced web proxies, Chrome asks for my
username/password up to 8 times

Thanks for testing. I read your bug report again and realized that I
misunderstood
it. My update won't help your bug. Sorry.
Could you do an experiment with Firefox?
1. In Firefox's location bar, type "about:config". If it shows the "This
might void
your warranty!" warning page, click the "I'll be careful, I promise!"
button.
2. In the "Filter" box, type "lm".
3. What is the value of network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies? Is
it "true"?
4. If it is "true", please change it to "false".
5. Shut down and restart Firefox.
6. Browse to any external page. Does Firefox behave like Chrome now?
Remember to change the value of network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies
back to
"true" after this experiment.
Your proxy.pac file returns one of four proxies. Chrome temporarily saves
the
password for each of the proxies, so you are expected to type
username/password for
each proxy, but you should only need to type username/password at most four
times. I
don't know why you need to type username/password ~8 times. Does Chrome
ask you for
the username/password for the same proxy more than once?
Chrome has a password manager for saving username/password persistently. I
don't
know why it doesn't offer to save your proxy passwords.
Issue 19 is about grabbing your credentials automatically.
