When the chat used to be on the left, the "Set status" dropdown box would stay away from the bounds of the page and cover up part of the inbox if the width was wider than the chat module. (Same with the "Options" drop down in the chat module.) With the chat on the right, these dropdowns need to be "aware" that the boundary of the page is on the right, and thus any extra width needs to be placed to the left of module.
