There is an alternate way for this problem in firefox/mozilla: you can  
simply paste
the url anywhere on the currently active tab. (So you just click middle  
button
anywhere in the viewport, and the url is replaced.)

I miss this feature badly in Chrome, and would be nice to be implemented by  
the
stable release. I know it's a different bug, but these two are highly  
related.

IMHO, highlighting the whole url just by clicking in the omnibox is the  
worst
solution on linux. FF solutions in this is also comfortable: clicking does  
not
highlight, but double click selects the whole url.
