Hmm. The highlighting is a GTK thing to indicate that the omnibox text is
still the
PRIMARY selection, I think, but I agree that the behavior in Chrome seems
pretty
weird (especially in conjunction with the omnibox's click-selects-all
behavior).
Note that it also works the same way in the other direction: when you
highlight text
in WebKit and then click in the omnibox, WebKit's highlighting turns gray
(which
seems wrong, since the PRIMARY selection is now the omnibox text).
Firefox 3.0.13 seems strange in this regard too. When I highlight text in
the
location bar and then click in the content area, the text is unhighlighted,
but if I
do things in the other direction, the content area highlighting remains and
turns
gray.
