What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. It's first noticeable when I open a new tab and type a query without a
response.

What is the expected result?
My expected result when typing into the Chrome search window is a result
via Google.
What happens instead?
My input disappears from the window and nothing happens.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
This is with the mac. OSx4
I have to quit Chrome and reopen.
When I quit I see a quick flash of the grey sad mac face before the windows
disappear.
