Comment #84 on issue 2142 by John.Cunningham.Bowler: Printing with an Epson Photo printer on Vista Crashes Chromium http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=2142
*THIS* bug is characterized by the following behaviors: 1) The bug only happens on Windows Vista and later (i.e. including Windows 7) 2) The crash occurs *before* the print dialog appears (the dialog never appears). 3) The bug does *NOT* occur if "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" is selected as the default printer - the dialog appears and printing (to that printer) works fine. 4) The crash *ALWAYS* occurs if a printer with the problem driver (at least certain Epson printers with the in-box MS driver) is selected as the default printer. 5) The crash does *NOT* occur if the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" is selected as the default printer then, within the print dialog, the problem printer in (4) is selected before printing. All these five conditions must be met or it is a different bug... I encourage anyone who finds a crash problem with a different printer (none of the above Epson printers) to test each condition above. It's pretty fast and easy to do. It would be nice to have a definate confirmation of some other printer driver - at present it's just the MS implementation (probably provided by Epson) of the Vista/7 driver that has been confirmed to be problematic. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
