Comment #11 on issue 17822 by djmcfar: Save monitor work rects with window
positions, use them to determine how to adjust restored windows
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=17822

There are millions of users worldwide which routinely connect and
disconnect their
laptops from a secondary monitor (for obvious reasons of the superior
display when
they have access to it). I ran into this problem today after watching a few
techonline webinars and then disconnecting a secondary monitor after I was
done, and
then attempting to restart GC (Google Chrome).

Rebooting did not help any (I still had an inaccessible and invisible GC
running on
my machine) so I uninstalled GC, rebooted again, and then reinstalled GC
and the
problem persisted. This means that the registry entries that are
responsible for this
bad behavior are not removed by the un-install process. So now,I am
stuck... I
literally can not use GC on this machine. Sure, I could write an app that
attempts to
remove all leftover entries from uninstalled applications, but I don't
think that is
going to happen. Note that I have 25 years experience in programming
(mostly c, c++
and assembly languages), and understand that this feature was originally
intended to
be something that other browsers don't do, but you obviously did not cover
all of the
bases.

I was hoping that GC would become the world's preferred browser, but I can
guarantee
you as sure as I am sitting here, that will not happen unless you fix this
issue,
regardless of whatever other features you may add.

I could go on and on and on about this (including implementation details)
but suffice
it to say... " back to Firefox". Good luck.

Sincerely,

Don McFarland
