Comment #9 on issue 20006 by [email protected]: Unplugging USB audio
device during playback causes ugly log message
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=20006

I still see messages from ALSA for various issues.
When running via X windows, audio fails, and alsa sends a message. (Alpha
has this)
When the device does not support the format, a message is output
[13370:13473:1979106005309:ERROR:media/audio/linux/alsa_output.cc(731)]
Unable to set
PCM parameters for (plug:surround51:1): Invalid argument -- Format: 2
Channels: 2
Latency (us): 170666

When you choose a device that does not exist, you get a message
ALSA lib ../../../src/pcm/pcm_params.c:2135:(snd1_pcm_hw_refine_slave)
Slave PCM not
usable

and when you yank the usb plug
[13944:14516:1979555330341:ERROR:media/audio/linux/alsa_output.cc(475)]
Failed
querying delay: No such device
[13944:14516:1979555330435:ERROR:media/audio/linux/alsa_output.cc(582)]
Failed to
write to pcm device: File descriptor in bad state
[13944:14516:1979555330808:ERROR:media/audio/linux/alsa_output.cc(749)]
Cannot close
audio device (ð Q
:surround51:1): No such device

plugging the device back in does not recover until you restart the video.
