Thank you for reporting the issue!

I was able to reproduce this issue on Chrome in Linux only. copy & paste any
non-ASCII string to Google Doc, the non-ASCII characters are not  
displayed , only the
html code tag "<i></i>" is displayed from the webpage provided by user.  
tested with
other non-ASCII string( CJK, Bi-di etc.), none of them can be display  
correctly in
google doc.

I also test this in Gmail, this only copy&paste over correctly if the text  
body is
set to plain text, if I set it to rich formatting, then same display issue.

believe this has something to do with the rich formatting of the document.

verified the same issue does NOT happen on Windows or Mac OS
