Comment #6 on issue 21412 by [email protected]: Do something on successful installation http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=21412
Now that we are enforcing a max of one UI feature per-extension, we have some more options. Here is my new proposal: For browser actions, put up a bubble pointing at the browser action that says: "FooBar extension installed. To configure settings or remove FooBar, go to wrench -> extensions." For page actions, temporarily show the page action (even if the extension didn't ask for that) and who a bubble pointing at it that says: "FooBar extension installed. This icon will appear when the FooBar extension can do something on the current page. To configure settings or remove FooBar, go to wrench - > extensions." For extensions that have neither a browser action nor page action, show a bubble in the center of the window that says: "FooBar extension installed. To configure settings or remove FooBar, go to wrench -> extensions."
