fjbuch -- just to be sure, are you running any extensions (e.g. extension
that might
try to sync your bookmarks with other services, like XMarks or GBX) on any
of your
computers?
As a workaround, I might recommend the following actions on each of your
computers:
- Make sure you're running version 4.0.233.11 (or newer).
- "Stop syncing" via the options panel.
- Delete all your bookmarks from your profile (you'll get them back from
your Google
account when you start syncing again). You can use the Bookmark Manager
(Ctrl+Shift+B) to delete bookmarks in bulk. If you like, you can backup
the Bookmarks
file from your chrome profile, which lives: C:\Documents and
Settings\<user>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default on XP,
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default on Vista.
- Re-enable sync again by going through the "Sync my bookmarks" process.
Hopefully that should get your machine in a state that's consistent with
the server.
After you do it, you can check the "about:sync" page to get some insight
into what
your account is doing. If your browser instance is healthy, I would expect
the status
to be READY, not SYNCING. Notifications should be enabled, but your
instance should
not be sending or receiving any notifications. Notifications are sent by a
browser
instance after it successfully commits a change.
