I believe this is a duplicate of bug 13409.
Basically there is a problem with not having the 32-bit version of NSS,
which can cause all of your DNS resolving
to explode in Chrome, and crash.
Can you try installing the package "lib32nss-mdns" and see if the problem
still happens?
