I am in exactly the same situation with the same version of Chrome. Sites I use all the time are: gmail, hootsuite.com dashboard, Google Analytics, and dozens of tabs open with all sorts of sites open depending on what I am researching. Chrome used to be an ace for this type of stuff, now I get ridiculous delays (5-10 seconds) when switching to a tab that was left in the background for a while, and Win XP is constantly having to increase my VM size.
