regarding #8, the next time chrome opens it could tell the user of the completed files, that way you don't run into that problem. Or just automatically reopen the bar and start flashing the downloads that have completed since last session. That way it can automatically finish the downloads. Warn the user that that's happening with a popup at least the first time, or give an option to keep downloading in the taskbar or don't close, or cancel/pause. And of course as with everything else have it so that the preference can be saved.
