I'm happy to accept patches to make the extension better.  If you unpack  
it, you'll
see that it's super simple.

This is contrary to the design philosophy of the product.  Our UX designers  
believe
that each option adds a cost to every user, whether or not they change the  
value of
the option.

The cognitive load doesn't come from changing the option.  The load comes  
from
looking in the options panel and seeing a ton of different options.

In any case, the incrementally cost of each option has been discussed many  
times in
general and about this case in particular.  If you want this changed  
without an
extension, you'll need to convince the UI team.  I suspect you'll have a  
tough time
because they've already considered this topic.
