I'm using chrome 4.0.223.16 and just had the bookmark sync duplication problem as well. What's worse, I have the same problem as some others: the bookmarks, including duplicates, show in google docs (chrome folder), but I'm not allowed to delete the bookmarks there as they're from "read-only source".
