Comment #14 on issue 27490 by [email protected]: Chrome refuses to update;
Update server not available (error: 7)
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=27490
1. Go into /Applications/Utilities/Console.app. In the left pane, navigate
to LOG
FILES:~/Library/Logs:GoogleSoftwareUpdateAgent.log. Then go to the About
window
in Chrome and click Update Now. Grab whatever new output is appended to
that log.
I'm especially interested in a line that should be near the end, which will
take the
form:

3. After you get "Update server not available (error: 7)", quit and restart
Chrome
anyway. Tell me what version the About window says you're on.
Prior to updating, Chrome lists 4.0.249.0
After updating and restarting, Chrome still lists 4.0.249.0
