Comment #3 on issue 22167 by [email protected]: [Vista][JA]About chrome
window size is big
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=22167

I'm not sure how to tackle this, given that when I run Chrome with
--lang=ja I don't get
any Japanese strings. I seem to remember that we don't put the
localizations on trunk,
they only go into the Google Chrome branch -- is that correct? Do we even
have the
latest localizations, Anthony?

In any case, here are my thoughts on this subject:

The problem with this dialog in the past is that it has a "A new version of
Google
Chrome is available (1.2.3.4)" string, that needs to fit on the bottom
line. In the
Japanese version (and a few others locales), this string is so long that
the dialog box
needed to be widened. We should therefore not make a change to the width of
the dialog
without testing how it looks with that string.

I'd be interested to see what it looks like on XP today with that string.
My suspicion
is that the width of this dialog box is exactly the width needed to fit
that string and
on Vista we have extra room due to an issue I filed way back (issue 12694).

I think it might be beneficial to go back to the translators (painful as
that cycle is)
and ask for a smaller string.
