The Star is used to quickly bookmark the current page, so clicking the Star
already
creates the bookmark. This is true regardless of whether you click the
Edit button or
not. If you don't want the bookmark, click the Remove button in the
bookmark bubble.
The Edit button just provides a shortcut access to also edit the details of
the already
existing bookmark.
