Our copy doesn't have anything changed to the files other than xdg-settings, by the way. And I think most of the changes we've made to xdg-settings locally have been pushed as patches upstream after the initial version I sent them, so they should be almost the same as well. But there hasn't actually been an xdg-utils release since then (let alone distributions picking it up), so we still need to ship it for a while yet. The workaround I was referring to in the above comment is in xdg-settings; newer (but still only CVS) xdg-mimes may not have that particular problem any more, but it's still not totally in working order.
