I've unchecked Auto detect and also DNS prefetching and reenabled them in every possible combo and I still get resolving proxy and sloooooow. I've tried using AT&Ts DNS server and also OpenDNS and still inconsistent and slow. I've flushed the DNS cache using net start and also ipconfig - nothing. I know (I think) it's a DNS issue of some sort. If I try to ping say www.google.com it is ok, if I try www.usatoday it times out - replies - times out again (75% loss). Some pages comes up like normal - just as many don't. Seems like this just started for me in the last few days.
