Lukas, I love that mockup you did. It's not the extra click that bothers me about the "dangerous file" warning, it's the fact that the extra click is always so far away from the cursor after I just clicked the download link. Only possible downfall of this is that the user could think that the website itself is displaying the warning. Either way, the devs should take a look at that picture when they decide how to fix that damn warning. Back on topic: yes, downloads that continue after the window containing them closes are quite unintuitive.
