Just tested http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/continuous/linux/LATEST/chrome-linux.zip (r34374) and it runs the samples linked from the Chromium blog post. This is on 64-bit Ubuntu 8.04 with NVIDIA hardware and drivers. Could you test the behavior with this exact build?
