Status update: I wrote an NSS patch for building NSS as static
libraries: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=534471
The fully static build of NSS passes the NSS test suite. However,
this patch is quite large. Portions of the patch are generally
useful, so I am trying to get those changes reviewed and checked
in to reduce the size of the NSS static library patch:

Next I will add NSS to the Chromium source tree and build system.
