If I print using the CUPS-pdf printer facility, and print to file, the resulting pdf is bad in acroread. Sometimes nothing shows, sometimes the page is a small thumbnail only. If instead I use print-to-file, the pdf is ok in acroread BUT it is just an image file (e.g. the pdf is not text searchable, and pdftotext cannot find any text). In contrast, firefox and CUPS-pdf produces a viewable,searchable, printable file.
