1. i just installed the official chrome version (3.0.195.38 (Official Build
34131))
from
http://www.google.com/chrome
using IE8 under windows XP.
2. used chrome to update to the beta channel from
http://www.google.com/landing/chrome/beta/
the message in the website was
"Thanks for trying Google Chrome!
The Google Chrome installer should complete in seconds and start your new
browser
automatically."
a new window of chrome indeed opened
but about:version in the new window still says
3.0.195.38 (Official Build 34131)
bottom line: the website in the installation page promises a new window
with the new
version, a new window does open, but with the old version (because the old
one is
still opened...)
if i didn't know better i would think "hey, this new browser seems exactly
like my
old one..." :)
