I've tested Chromium on these systems:
1. squeeze+sid
2. lenny
3. gentoo
All systems have same fonts.conf file.
All my applications (gtk, qt, OOo, wine, etc) work fine, so no font
rendering
differences exist. Only Chromium has problems with hinting settings.
Output from your patсh:
