We only keep around 10 of your recently closed tabs. The recently closed
section of the
new tab page doesn't show entries corresponding to the new tab page. This
is why
repeatedly closing/opening the new tab page makes your recently closed list
go empty.
Yes, this is a bug, but in practice it's not one folks normally encounter
during usage
of Chrome. I'm closing out.
