Lots of interesting ideas here. I very much like the idea of providing "contextual action" buttons on the new tab page; this creates a workflow where to do something with some content, I copy it and then open a new tab. More natural and extensible than adding a hundred context menu options to do different things. Putting recently closed tabs on a separate, not-shown-by-default section seems iffy to me, but it *does* seem like a good idea for how to present "sessions" on browser startup (especially your most recent tabs on shutdown), which is an issue we've been kicking around for a while.
