Hi!

A few of us have been talking for the past few weeks about how to do
extensions in Chromium. Here's a design doc that explains the
beginning of our plan:

http://dev.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/extensions

To start, we're going to focus mostly on the infrastructure for
packaging, distributing, installing and managing extensions, without
getting into lots of details about the specific APIs we'll support.

We do know that we want to support something like Greasemonkey, which
we refer to in the document as "content scripts". We also have thought
some about toolbars, sidebars, and some more advanced APIs. But we
realized that no matter what APIs we design, we will need to build
this infrastructure before we can ship anything, so we decided we
should start there. Once we get this lowest layer in place, we will
turn our attention back to the APIs and add document detailing our
plans for those.

Right now, it is mainly Erik Kay, Matt Perry, Nick Baum, and myself
working on this. But please let any of us know if you'd like to help,
there is lots to do.

Thanks,

- a
