I was playing around with the Chromium source code and have managed to add an preference option to use the homepage for the new tab page.
This was after my mate who just recetly started using Chrome suggested it to me as something he wanted to see in Chrome. What do you guys think? I have finished the code and was going start running the ui tests against it. (One question though, is how to modify the new tab test to include testing both with the preference turned on and off.)
