Hi Jack, I can repro this. The problem is a race at startup. If you delay calling the APIs awhile, it would work correctly. I've created a bug for this, if you're interested: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=12353 As for searching for bookmark folders, I'm not sure we want to add it. If it wasn't for this weird use case of using the bookmark system as storage, I don't know if anybody would ever need that.
