With VS2008 it is very likely things are messed up right now.
I run VS2008 on one of my boxes and a few days ago when I last tried it was
hitting several issues: tcmalloc stuff, _TR1 thing related to boost/tuple.
Unfortunately results have been unstable with vs2008 lately.
Once gyp is fully landed, we should have a wider range of options for
keeping 2008 working.
Because the gyp generator will be able to output both formats, the import
step won't be needed, and we should be able to make some things conditional
on 2005 v 2008 as needed.
We're down to less than a dozen checked in vcproj files at this point.
Once they've been gypified, it shouldn't be a big deal to add a builder to
the dashboard that validates vs2008.
Hopefully, once breaking vs2008 makes something go red, folks will have an
incentive to keep it working.
