Got it working!

The steps I used:

make clean
CFLAGS="-m32 -g -ggdb3" CXXFLAGS="-m32 -g -ggdb3" ./configure
--host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --enable-debug --with-debug
--prefix=/home/phajdan/local
CFLAGS="-m32 -g -ggdb3" CXXFLAGS="-m32 -g -ggdb3" make
make install

I think that not all of the flags are necessary, but it at least it
does what I want. So, this enables me to continue fontconfig leak
investigation. Thanks for great and quick help!
