This weekend IE stopped working on my father-in-law's machine such that it
crashes at startup. I took the opportunity to market Chrome (again) to him.
But then got puzzled by how would I install it without a working browser on
the machine. I thought about downloading the installer on one machine and
then use USB key to run that installer on the other machine. I didn't yet
try it since I wasn't sure if there is some client id magic we do when the
installer is downloaded that would break in this scenario; or for that
matter something else that might break in this scenario.

Is there an official way to do this that's known to work?
