Is it possible for Chrome to have portable, machine-independent settings so that when i log on to google, Chrome automatically retrieves and applies the settings with the browser. It can be before the browser even boots up. Just open a prompt screen "Would you like to retrieve Google Chrome settings from iGoogle? Yes/No/ Do not show message again.
I see it is plausible with *nix machine while their preferences neatly organised in the home folder. But Windows might need abit of adapting. Eg make it stand alone and script up shortcuts on desktop, Start Menu, etc. Though i do agree that this will offend some users due to privacy, but many of us work with multiple computers these days. I use Windows, Linux and Mac concurrently and the benefits of transferring personal settings/history/recent tabs/open tabs/sessions/etc between computer far outways the privacy i have lost. Its really an issue i am at work reading up various news, then when it comes to going home (1.5hr trip), it is too much to bother transferring 15+ tabs onto my mac. Any case, i believe this is a issue that Chrome should adapt as i believe it will benefit everyone, especially those who use multiple computers. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Chromium-discuss" group.
