I'm glad to see that Chrome unified the location box and search box, and that it provides keyword searches. But as Chrome also got rid of the top menu bar it opens an opprtunity to make searches even more accessible by keyboard shortcuts. (Since the top menu is associated with ALT key shortcuts.)
How about this: If I type something in the location bar and hit ALT+G instead of Enter, that's a Google search. If I hit ALT+L, that's I'm feeling lucky. The user could assign keyboard shortcuts for with ALT for any search, or really, any type of option that Chrome provides in the location bar. This would mean that you don't have to navigate the options in the drop down menu, which I fear can become very cluttered. And even if it has only a few options, surely this would be a speed and accesibility improvement, over using the mouse or arrow keys. And the nice thing is that it won't confuse casual users since they won't even know it's there. Having tried typing "<search string> <keyboard shortcut>" for a bit, I think it would be faster and easier than "<keyword> <space> <search string>" that I'm used to from Konqueror, Firefox and Opera. Not by much, but still. What do you think? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Chromium-discuss" group.
