Folks, Oh my god, I could never survive in this open source Chrome world - bulky development, high and massive dependencies on so many things that need not be, and watching the IDE compile, the thing is spawning all kinds of processes perl.exe,. sh.exe, cygwin stuff. - slow as molasses!
This is just a browser! geez! and by comparison, our product is about 40 times larger in projects - 30 megs when compiled and a full build compiles in ~20-30 minutes. It shouldn't be so bad - but I guess people are use to this. I will note the one "got ya" I see here as I did with the PHP windows team - with Microsoft giving away the free compiler, unnecessary dependencies with employed by programmers using the free compiler. By replacing the few VISTA/2008 SDK requirements I saw, it would be one less thing required. Anyway, I just wanted to pass a note ... (is it done yet?...nope, IDE blocked with all the perl, sh, bash stuff loaded in memory). If it really necessary to have it do all this? I guess I am too use to be an a power, speed programmer - too slow for my taste. Something I guess I have to figure out to speed it up. This build process should be better. My 2 pennies. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Chromium-discuss" group.
