I agree it would be a good idea to display the page as it appeared before you left it, without prompting for reload. The user can always do an explicit Reload to resubmit (or maybe that's the time when they should get a warning?).
Interestingly, my recollection is that Opera does something like this, or it used to do so several years ago anyway.
