I download pdf's using Chrome multiple times a day (for work
purposes). One of the primary reasons I changed my default browser
from IE7 to Chrome (within the first 24 hours of Chrome's beta release
in September) was because I was shocked at the speed with which the
documents opened vs the time it took with IE7.

You could just go to the adobe site and download the adobe reader
(latest version is 9). Here's the link:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

You might have to try more than once to download it. My first install
of 9 didn't take. I shut down all unnecessary apps and retried and it
installed fine. Also, I did have a problem on first start
(downloading my first pdf with the new version)--before you can use it
you have to accept terms. For some reason I didn't get the accept
terms prompt when I first tried to use it. I restarted the computer
and the prompt appeared afterwards.

If version 9 doesn't work, you could install an earlier version of
adobe reader (like 8.1.2) by clicking on the "different language or
operating system" link.

Good luck.

Diana
