I have changed the policy on this group so that only members may post. The has always been spam, but it has recently become unbearable.
I wanted to keep the group open so that there would be no barrier to anyone sending email to ask questions or discuss issues. However, it's clear that the spam is making any real discussion impossible and is probably driving people away. Requiring people to join the group is a small barrier, and it will allow us to control spam much better. We cannot eliminate the spam, but it will now (a) be harder for spammers to reach this group through email and (b) be possible to ban spamming addresses (only addresses that are members can be banned, unfortunately). We'll be working over the next couple of days to remove some of the garbage from the discussion forum at http://groups.google.com/group/chromium-discuss.
