Hi,

This message is intended to initiate a discussion about the default
font size of Chromium.

As the precision of the display technology being improved, the trend
of the computer users facing their display more than 8 hours feeling
eye irritation is becoming common, and I am one of them.

By analyzing the major cause of my eye irritation, I found that I can
configure the default font size of most of my applications easily,
like text editor, compiler, MS-DOS console,... However, whenever I
want to check some data on the internet, the first font size are
usually very small. For reason of emergency to read the critical data
on the Web, I did not adjust each web page's font size properly before
starting to read the web page. Very quickly, my eyes get irritated
during the reading. If lots of web pages are to be read in a day, my
eyes will end of red before the end of the day.

The worst case is when I am reading the web pages with Chinese
characters. They are much too small in general sense. Some English
web pages are also designed with very small fonts.

When the LCD display's resolution is becoming large size, this
improvement does not help for the above issue. It is very common that
1/4 of the web page is left empty while the used 3/4 web page are full
of characters of tiny fonts.

My proposals are as the following:

(1) Have a switch in the Chromium configuration that will zoom up the
web page to 4/3 as it is designed.

(2) Redefine the displayed size of all fonts in Chromium with a
factor. For example, when the user set the factor to be 1.3, the
character of font size 8 will be displayed as if its font size is 8 x
1.3 = 10.4.

Hope there will be some echo.

Rex
