Well, the second part of my wish has come true, if still in experimental form - dev versions of Google Chrome that work on Linux and Mac, respectively, have now been released and can be downloaded here (http://tinyurl.com/5njag8 - scroll down to the bottom of the page). They are accompanied by the usual disclaimers and warnings about frequent crashes and thus are not for the faint-hearted, but I am very happy to be able to test the Linux version om my 64-bit Ubuntu Jaunty setup, on which it installed easy as pie. Three cheers for the developers !...
