All of the applications I use that use Google Gears (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Remember the Milk) all prompt me to install Gears when I click the Offline link at the top. I download Gears, install it, and restart Chromium (using 4.0.202.0 right now). No change. gears.google.com also behaves as if I don't have Gears installed.
