2 points for you. The way I see it, there are 2 wikis , one is google chrome's and one is the distribution which is packing/using/releasing it in their distribution. For sake of simplicity and understanding I would take Ubuntu (as one of the distributions I'm most comfortable with) Now ubuntu has a wiki https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ where some of these instructions can be kept. The best instructions so far has been on the PPA page https://edge.launchpad.net/~chromium-daily/+archive/ppa which should be there on the wiki. As a user who's searching for info. I would be hard-pressed to know which are the correct instructions with which version of Ubuntu release. One of the ways the documentation could be maintained is :- Ubuntu Karmic Koala Instructions Jaunty Instructions Hardy Instructions and so on and so forth. Each of these versions has its own sub-sections and they are being updated. One of the other ways (if no one wants to keep it current ) is simply give a redirect to the launchpad page where at some point there would be a wiki page on the ubuntu wiki and the instructions would be there. Seriously, if you look at the recent discussions it goes to show that people didn't know that build instructions were there on the wiki (they were not visible enough) . Waiting for feedback on what people think.
