I was just wondering what the latest development in extensions/add-ons
for Chrome was? Is Google Chrome going to go with greasemonkey as the
extension system or something else? What are they thoughts on an
extension system? Is it going to be entirely in JavaScript? I would
think that creating extensions for a web browser should be as easy as
creating web sites or bookmarklets.

I have some ideas. Maybe the extension system could be just
bookmarklets that automatically run on specified sites at start up or
other specific events. What if bookmarklets could contain newline
characters. What if there was a bookmarklets folder to the far left of
your bookmarks bar that looked like a gear icon.

Here's how it could work: Every bookmarklet could contain a list of
domains that it would be automatically run at. There could also be an
option for the bookmarklet to run on every domain.

I could see how this posses some security issues, but isn't this how
greasemonkey works?

Anyway, what are the plans for an extension system in Google Chrome?
