That is the way that it is supposed to work, as in Firefox, but
currently under Linux at least you can only drag legitimate URLs to a
new tab.  Although you can drag a text-based address to the omnibar to
replace the current tab.

You can also highlight any text and drag it to the omnibar to perform
a google search, presumably this is also meant to work in a new tab
the same way as Firefox.

Drag-and-drop is such a clicksaver I will be sooo happy when this works again.
